Vacation...

Vacation…the very word brings a smile and a sigh of relief. Just thinking of having to do nothing. No checklists (my greatest love and worst enemy), errands, or obligations. I just need to relax and have fun, or at least, allow myself to be a human being, not a human doing.

It’s the time leading up to vacation that has me frazzled. So much to do. The shopping, the packing, putting a hold on the mail, finding care for the pets. You know what I mean – it’s the drudgery we must endure as prepayment for a good time.

Add to that my desire to come back without a list of things to do as long as my arm. I want that writing project finished before I leave. I want to come home to a clean house. I want everything neat and shiny and complete when I walk in the door. Which only makes the stress of going out of town exponentially greater.

One of the last things on my to-do list: write this blog. So, here I am writing a blog about having to write my blog. No wonder I need a vacation.

So, let’s keep it short. I am overworked, but I am the only boss around here, so I can’t complain. But I do. Nothing a little vacation can’t cure. I’m off. As soon as I get the dog dropped off and my suitcase closed.

Happy summer travels to us all.
