Finding joy in the time of COVID: snow in october

Nearly 8” of snow. Really? I have to find joy in this? I do not.

But nature has given me a challenge, so here we go:

The joy in getting this snow is: it is pretty to look at. Also, I understand it makes some people really happy. It makes the sledders very joyful on the hill near our house. But mostly, because my husband does the shoveling, the joy in Covid lies in the fact that I do not need to go outside and deal with it. I don’t need to get to work or run errands or have a social life. Covid has given me an excuse to stay in, which is what I prefer to do when we get a ridiculous amount of snow, especially in the month of October.

I have joy in staying in, and I have great sympathy for those who are not able to stay in because they have to work to save lives or keep our city going. I am grateful to them, and that is a small piece of joy too.
